Slam Planet world premiere pre-party - Progressive Coffee - Mar. 11, 2006

Austin's own DJ Nick Nack, DJ Mel, the Austin and NYC Slam Teams will be at Progressive Coffee to celebrate the premiere of the documentary Slam Planet. The party starts at 8pm and as far as I know it's a free event! This should be an awesome show! I'm also looking forward to the documentary! And BTW, DJ Nick Nack produced the score for the documentary so go support him!

Via slamchannel.com:

This feature-length documentary explored the lives of two teams of slam poets, one hailing from Austin, TX, and the other representing the Urbana Poetry Slam in New York City as they prepared for and competed at the 2004 National Poetry Slam in St. Louis, MO. We examined the development of these teams of poetic warriors, as well as their uniquely compelling backstories. Slam Planet also features interviews with celebrity visionaries of the spoken word movement such as TV Hall of Fame Producer Norman Lear, Hip Hop godfather Russell Simmons, and Slam's founding father, Marc Smith.
