Mirage - Dirty Dog Bar - April 7, 2007

Mirage wrote in to tell us about his show @ the Ruff Ryders Texas Relays Party @ Dirty Dog Bar on April 7th! The Relays are here again... get ready for some good times.

More info:

The Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays are an annual track and field competition held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. The University of Texas serves as host for the event, held on either the first or second weekend of April. Events are held in High School, College, University, and Invitational divisions. The 80th running of the Relays will be held from April 4-7, 2007.

In response to cold-weather conditions at the Kansas Relays, [1] the Texas Relays started as a men's-only competition in 1925 by coach Clyde Littlefield and athletic director Theo Bellmont[2]. The Relays were held at Memorial Stadium until Myers Stadium was opened in 1999[3]. The meet was not held in from 1932-1934 as a result of The Great Depression[3]. Women's events were added in 1963[3].

To encourage attendance in the early years of the event, various publicity stunts were staged. The most successful was a 1927 stunt in which three Tarahumaras were invited to the Relays. These men were famed as runners who never stopped running. A race was staged between the men from San Antonio to Memorial Stadium. After 14 hours and 53 minutes, the 89 mile race ended in a tie.

De La Soul - The Parish - April 16, 2007

Scion's at it again... De La Soul! @ The Parish... April 16th. That's so dope. You know how Scion events go... RSVP hasn't been set up but it'll be here.

I'm battling these days with what it is to be a friend. Or rather a good friend... I consider myself a very good friend. To me friendships have their ups and downs. People lose touch. People need some space. All that good stuff. But when that happens, I don't think it diminishes a friendship. I don't have to talk to a friend every day, week, or even years and I still feel connected with them. Real friendships stand the test of time.

More info:

De La Soul is a Grammy-award winning hip hop group from Long Island, New York. They are best known for their eclectic sampling and quirky, surreal lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap subgenre. The members are Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos, Mercenary, Plug Wonder Why, Plug One), David Jude Jolicoeur (Trugoy the Dove, Dave, Plug Two) and Vincent Mason (P.A. Pasemaster Mase, Maseo, Plug Three). The three formed the group in high school and caught the attention of producer Paul Huston (Prince Paul) with a demo tape of the song "Plug Tunin'". Prince Paul was also sometimes referred to as Plug Four.

Hip Hop Into College - Austin Community College - March 24, 2007

Now this is pretty cool... Lady Legacy and ACC are hosting Hip Hop Into College... helping all those ignorant motherf*ckers get their act straight... full with DJ's... poetry slam... and martial arts... WTF?!? :)

I'd go... but "No child left behind" never really worked for me...

More info:

Born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Austin, TX , Lady Legacy has indeed started off in the rap game with nothing but realness. Life hasn't been a bed of roses for this ATX betty. From the dope game to the rap game like many who are leading the industry now, the game is still the same. Whoever has the A-1 makes the most money.

A-1 is definitely what Legacy has. With her label, 1205 (off 12th street with nothin' but $5), she is going to make the world know it's not alone. Everything everyone has every experienced will be addressed by the artists from 1205.

More info:

James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006), commonly referred to as "The Godfather of Soul" and "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business," was an American entertainer recognized as one of the most influential figures in 20th century popular music. Phranchyze - Light Bar - March 8, 2007

I have yet to see this cat Phranchyze on the mic... but you can check out some dope stuff here and on March 8th at Light Bar.

So I've got a question... if you've got bloody stool... can that also be called a bloody a$$hole? And what does having bloody stool mean is happening physically? Maybe I should just Google it.

More info:

What do you get when you combine the NERDiness of the Virginia sound, the swagger of the south, the bone crushing bars of the east coast, and a stage performance that'll make the meanest hyphy acts instantly begin to hate? One need look no farther than Texas resident Phranchyze A.kA. Phran1 to get the answer. After the release of The Group Therapy full length, and the Rhyme Drive and ATX-men Mixtapes, Phran is looking to reload with a new full length album entitled,"Errybody Hates Me" which is sure to set fire to radios and cd players everywhere. When asked why he picked such a combative title, the usually outspoken Phran simply replies,"That's how I feel right about now. The last year I've personally been through alot of bullshit, some of it was my fault and some of it wasn't." When asked to elaborate he basically says,"Just dealing with relationships man. Wether professionally, friendships, girls, it's been a very trying year, so I've just been documenting it all on paper and putting my thoughts into songs."
