It’s the first party of the new year for Afrofreque, so going to make this one a little special for the hip-hop, soul, and funk lovers in the ATX. Afrofreque will be keeping the party live at Lambert’s on Saturday night, February 7th, 2008, with special guest performances by Chicken Strut and Manolo Black (aka Trey Lopez in the house!).

A side project of Afrofreque drummer Michael Hale, Chicken Strut brings in some free-range funk to the mix while Manolo Black will keep the dance floor boomin’ steady before and after Afrofreque sets.Lambert’s Downtown BBQ is located at 401 W. 2nd St. in downtown Austin. Cover is only $7 at the door, which opens up for the 21 and up crowd at 10:00pm.

Destiny by Design, in cooperation with Citizen Schools, focuses on culture and career development opportunities within hip-hop. Teaming with volunteers, the Destiny by Design kids were able to utilize their creativity to produce, write, and record their own song.
